Job Title: Specialty Software Engineer Lead
Location: Remote
Join our dynamic team of 5 as a Specialty Software Engineer Lead, working closely with the Data Engineering and Data Science teams. This role is integral to our enterprise migration from SAS to alternative solutions.
Job Responsibilities:
- Convert internal processes from SAS to Python.
- Provide user support and guidance during the migration process.
- Identify functionality gaps between SAS and Python and provide recommended solutions.
- Create detailed documentation and guides for converting SAS functions to Python.
- Develop FAQ and troubleshooting resources to address common issues.
- Organize training sessions and workshops to facilitate user adoption of Python.
- Facilitate knowledge transfer sessions to ensure ongoing support post-migration.
Skills Required:
- Proficiency in SAS (6+ years) and Python (6+ years).
- Ability to translate business needs into Python code.
- Understanding of how users are using SAS and how to implement it better into Python.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Knowledge of the full software development lifecycle.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed.
- Knowledge of XML, Java, JSP, and other relevant software.
- Familiarity with Hadoop, Impala, Hive, Spark, and R (an open-source language).
Education/Experience:
- High School Degree and Bachelor’s degree in computer science/software engineering/relevant field or equivalent work experience required.
- 8+ years of experience required.
