Job Title: NOC Technician

Location: Melville, NY (Hybrid)

Join our team as a NOC Technician, where you’ll be a crucial part of our 24/7 network monitoring operations. This role is not your typical IT or helpdesk position. You’ll be responsible for monitoring network events, initiating incidents, performing high-level triage, and managing escalations and notifications. You’ll also communicate directly with customers and work closely with our Tier2 organization. This is a hybrid role, with a mix of in-office and work-from-home days.

Key Responsibilities:

  • 24/7 monitoring of all critical systems and handling customer support calls
  • Creating tickets and performing initial triage for issue resolution
  • Monitoring network alarms and identifying customer impact and urgency
  • Resolving issues using documented processes and run books, or escalating to internal support teams as needed
  • Maintaining accountability for incident tickets until closure, including direct communication with customers for updates
  • Ensuring smooth ticket handover during shift changes

Skills Required:

  • Strong work ethic and ability to multitask
  • Ability to work independently and effectively under supervision
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills
  • 1-2 years of experience in telecommunications or a similar field
  • Understanding of SONET, IP subnetting and layer 2/3 routing, DWDM, dark fiber services
  • Experience with equipment platforms such as Ciena Optical, Cisco Optical, Infinera, Juniper MX and EX series, MRV switches, Cisco routers and switches

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
